Saint Jean de luz is a tourist town renowned above all for its welcome, its festivities and friendly locals. You will discover a certain art of living.
With it's first populations dating back to prehistoric times, St Jean de Luz has always held a historic role particularly in relation to the sea, with it's whale and tuna fishermen, it's pirates and adventurers that battled the seas, its sailors, discoverers of 'terra incognita'. In 1660 King Louis XIV held his wedding here.
Intimate and preserved, it was and remains a town for artists like Maurice Ravel, Ramiro, Arue, Victor Hugo, Francis James, Pierre Loti, Pierre Benoit.
